GRTWMA 34A: This location is on an unmaintained side trail approximately 150 meters from the main trail. Area clearcut approx 8 years ago. Four or five subsequent secondary successional stages have occurred resulting in an extremely dense, nearly impenetrable forest of saplings and briars on both sides of the overgrown trail. The briars, except for those on the trail, have lost the competition for sunlight and have all but died out, leaving tangles of dried thorny stems in the understory which is quite dark given the ongoing competition for light going on among the various tree species. Should be great wildlife habitat!
