One of three small sites sampled in the hilly, partially forested area north of Chepo.  Valle de Madroño is a family owned farm near near the town of Siana, slightly further north into the hills when compared to the other two sites.  The owners raise cattle, pigs, and chickens here, but the property serves as a secondary form of income and is not managed as intensively as some other sites (e.g. Maria Isabella).

During a conversation, the owners mentioned that a giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) had been killed by dogs near their property in February 2015.  They also showed photographs of the dead animal at the reported location, confirming the account.
