North Carolina's Candid Critters is a statewide survey run by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in collaboration with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. This project is focused on surveying mammals across all 100 counties in North Carolina in order to identify what species are living where, providing information that will be used to enhance management and conservation practices.
How this project works:
1. Sign up at http://www.nccandidcritters.org/sign-up/
2. Complete the online training course
3. Select a site (on private land where the volunteer has permission, or on pre-selected sites on public land)
4. Those who borrow cameras will pick their camera up from a participating library (a list will be provided to you)
5. Set your camera and leave it for THREE WEEKS**
6. Pick up your camera and upload the images captured to our free custom software
7. Return the camera to the library OR choose another site to repeat!
