The NC chapter of The Nature Conservancy owns and manages over 100,000 acres in the state of NC, with the goal to protect and conserve biodiversity. We are using camtraps to assess wildlife presence at our preserves, and thus better monitor the impact of our land protection efforts at a large scale, as well as assess the effectiveness of our management actions at individual sites. Camtraps help us put eyes on the ground at sites that we can’t otherwise closely monitor. For example, we are interested in the impacts of prescribed burning, browsing and grazing, invasive species management, and other habitat alterations.
