SCBI Testing Grid

The SCBI Testing Grid is composed of 28 Reconyx camera traps evenly spaced out over 1 hectare of forest at the Large Forest Tree Plot at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute. This site has all woody stems 1cm dbh and larger measured, identified and mapped. This project will be used to inform standard camera trapping protocols with regards to the detection probability of large mammals based on spatial arrangement and deployment duration. The site will also be used to study how shifting resources (acorn fall) or camera technique (scent lure) alter the movement of animals on the grid.
