Qionglai Mountains Project
Wildlife survey of three giant panda nature reserves in the Qionglai Mountains.
We surveyed large and medium sized mammals and pheasants in three giant panda reserves in the Qionglai Mountains (Wolong Nature Reserve, Anzihe Nature Reserve, and Heishuihe Nature Reserve). We set up camera traps in Wolong, one of the first established nature reserves in China for giant pandas, in 2008-2009 and 2014-2017. Camera traps were deployed in Anzihe, south-eastern Qionglai Mountains, and Heishuihe, southern Qionglai Mountains, between 2014 and 2017. We set cameras at least 300m apart, and applied scent lure in front of all cameras. Our intent was to document the mammal community within the reserves.
