Sequoia National Park Foothills Monitoring Project

Despite being the most biologically rich ecosystem in the parks, the foothills region of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is vastly understudied. New and innovative methods in aquatic and terrestrial wildlife monitoring may reverse this knowledge gap, providing new and enriching education and community experiences. We would like to implement both traditional and cutting-edge wildlife monitoring at established plots in the foothills region that will specifically serve as community science study and training areas. We will establish two long-term monitoring locations that can detect trends over time, and become known locations that direct community science efforts.
