Snapshot Sarikamis
The Sarikamis mammal community is unique. Basic trophic structure is thrown on its head, with high densities of eurasian brown bear, grey wolf, and caucasian lynx, but low densities of natural prey. These predators seem to be completely dependent on livestock and a municipal garbage dump located just outside the city of Sarikamis. This project uses a multi-year camera trap array to investigate the ecological effects these human disturbances have had on the Sarikamis wildlife population, as well as the greater Kars ecosystem as a whole.
