Batteries dead at pick up. The small squirrels we think are Black-Eared Pigmy Squirrel. The larger squirrels we think are Plaintain Squirrels. The unknown rodent in sequence five might be a tree rat or a tree shrew?

This was the first deployment of Arboreal camera traps. We had numerous false triggers (>100) but very few animals captured this deployment. We had two Arboreal cameras, but the first captured no animals.

Camera was mounted to a white oak tree in a clearing at the end of a northwest running ridge, about 50 yards from a hiking/bike trail. Camera was facing northwest. The ground was open but surrounded by mountain laurel, mixed oak species and Virginia pine. Scattered patches of lowbush blueberry in the area as well. Site is approximately 100 yards from a water source.
