eMammal is charged for commercial cloud services and in turn asks each project to share the costs through a subscription. We use subscription fees to pay for and maintain these services. A full explanation of the costs is here. All users have free access to their data once it is imported into the Smithsonian Data Repository, regardless of subscription status. All uploaded information goes through storage buckets in Amazon Web Services.
